Yes that true, but here the context is somewhat differnent.
Sri Yukteshwar is asked if one should offer himself a sacrifice rather than kill a wild beast?
To this he replies that no lower form is as equipped as man. Yes a man may incur minor sin if he is forced to kill an animal, but killing a man is serious trabsgression against karmic law.
But I too feel that killing an animal for food is different, and killing as sacrifice is different. If we kill our vices as sacrifice, then that would be a greater offering to God.
